"I'm gonna play Jazz"
That's what Wojtek (aka Courton),
Fata Morgana's guitarist said a few moments before breaking the only drumsticks we had at the band practice the day we were gonna record "Nikt Nic".
You could say it was a foreshadowing, because I'm now studying audio engineering (or the realization of the sound(iykyk)) in the Jazz department of Univerity of Applied Science in Nysa.
Four weeks have passed scince the start of this term and quite a lot has happened during those 28 days. All of the majors (aside from intrumentalists) have mandatory
choir classes.
And it would be cool and all if my vocal range wasn't a bit too short for a tenor.
If you've ever listened to my music (and if you're reading this, then probably you have)
you might have noticed how I use a lot of doubles, backing vocals and such - and it's a pretty cool technique if your vocal range is lacking (like mine).
Sadly, I can't clone myself to make live doubles, so I'm stuck as a mediocre tenor :). The good news is that I'm not all that bad at it, and if I
forget the melody I can always rely on Szymon (He's a great tenor) who usally knows what we're doing.

Btw me and SoTshu made a track together for fun, and you can find it on his
Newgrounds! I played bass, made the cover art and did the main vocal sample.
Anyway. Jazz.
I'm gonna be real with you all, I'm not the biggest jazz head in town. Before this year my exposure to jazz was limited mostly to
the gigs my grandpa takes me to and the records he lends me.
But now I'm in a brand new world and jazz is everywhere. Everyone plays jazz more or less and y'know, I love playing music with others. So
in order to do so I'm now learning jazz standards. It's kinda like learning songs, but you're just getting the general idea and then go with the flow
(or at least that's how I see it).
Anyway knowing only one standard hasn't stopped me from playing at the first jam session of this year. WatermelonMan4Ever.
That's the jam!
Okay, but what about Miracle Rats?
In October the CDs of "Oh, Okay" have finally hit the methaporical shelfs of my bandcamp (you can get them here).
This is an enomrmous milestone for me.
Like.
My music.
On a physical format.
RAHHHHHH
It's incredible to see a physical representation of my music.
Awesome feeling, would recommend.
I'm also in the process of asembling a live band so you can expect some gigs popping up near Nysa.
But rats aren't the only animals on Earth.
On October 30th my other band Lazy Snails 22 released our debut single "Goose Slippers".
It's more of a classic rock compared to my usual stuff, but recording this song was pretty fun.
We tracked rythm guitar and drums live and then did some overdubs with bass, vocals and more guitars. Compared to my usual process of recording
each track separately it was way more fun.
Anyway "Goose Slippers" is aviable on bandcamp and on streaming platforms.
And that's all... oh wait
HALLOWEEN
So I was going to spend this year's halloween by myself (lame, I know) but then I went to Wrocław a week prior to it.
While hanging out with Amelia (a.k.a. melinoë ) and watching "1670" I learnt that she was going to a party and was gonna dress up as
a moth. She also wanted to take a lamp as a prop, but she didn't really want to carry it around.
And so the moth and lamp matching costumes were born. When I was about to leave for my train I noticed a shade in a nearby trashcan so ofcourse I returned to
melinoë and left it at her place. I missed the tram to the train station, but that was okay, scince I don't trust trams anyway.
Our sick costumes.
And now imagine that everyone at the party is dressed in their halloween costumes. And yet I still managed to stand out, because no one else
had a lit lamp for a hat.
Sadly the party wasn't all that good, the music was too loud and because I forgot my earplugs I use for playing gigs I'm pretty positive
I got some permanent hearing damage :').
However it wasn't the only haloween party I attended this year. After returning to Nysa I heard that there was going to be a costume party.
But my super cool lamp hat was 200km away now, so I came up with a new costume, this time it was a ghost of a lamp. Also this party
was way better, I guess house parties are just my thing.
Lamp ghost in action.
So that's all for now. Thanks for reading and see you later in November.
